World of Warcraft MMORPG overview
This MMO was added on: Nov 30, 2011
World of Warcraft is the largest MMO currently on the market, and is developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Originally released in 2004, World of Warcraft has had three major expansions. The next expansion has been announced, and is entitled Mists of Pandaria. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG that boasts a player base of billions of customers worldwide. Thanks to the game’s phenomenal success, MMO gaming has become more popular than ever.
The game’s story is based on Blizzard’s original Warcraft PC game series. In World of Warcraft, players choose from two warring factions, then choose a race and class for their character. Each faction has four possible race choices, and the factions share 10 possible class choices. Each class has a choice of three specs, or playstyles to enjoy, and players can switch between two of those specs freely. Customization is key in World of Warcraft.
Combat in the game is a simple hot key-based system, and level progression is quest-based. Endgame progression is focused on gear, and there are many ways to obtain new gear. Players can PvP, participate in large group raids, small group instances or participate in PvP arena tournaments. World of Warcraft has something for everyone.
