Moving to a mouse and keyboard style of control can be difficult for long term console gamers trying to adapt to a PC game. That’s why TERA will support the use of a game controller, according to a demo of the game at this week’s Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco, California.

Publisher En Masse Entertainment has also incorporated several new elements into the game, including Achievements, Rest Bonus XP, and Daily quests; these are all components that MMO players have come to expect, and are not exactly ground breaking game play innovations.

The Nexus System revealed at GDC, however, is a bit unusual. A portal will open between the enemy and a player zone, which will function as a level specific public quest. PQs were first shown in Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, and largely resemble the elemental rifts that populate Trion Worlds’ MMO of the same name. Nexus missions will probably require a group to succeed complete.

You can get the full scoop on TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea at the game’s official website, where you can also preorder your own release copy. The game is currently in beta testing and plans to release onto live servers on May 1, 2012.
