Star Trek Online

Themes: , ,

Star Trek Online, a licensed MMO from Perfect World, recently lifted its pure subscription model and replaced it with a “freemium” system, much like Champions Online, Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings: Online. Silver accounts do have a few restrictions, but a huge amount of the content can be explored without paying.

While its success is anything but assured — especially on the heels of the EA monster MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic — it may provide the opportunity for players to check out a sci fi game without committing to a monthly fee.

You can sign up for your own free to play account here, or read more about the Star Trek Online game at its official website. With Cryptic as its developer, and Perfect World at the helm, you can bet that at the very list, STO will be entertaining for those looking for a free to play option.
