Lord of the Rings: Online players have been waiting for the next patch full of content, and date has finally been announced. Update 5, the Armies of Isengard, as the expansion package is titled, will be hitting live servers on December 12, 2011. That’s just a few days away, so now’s the time to jump back into the game and get yourself acclimated to Middle-Earth again.

If you never left, be prepared to encounter the Orthanc armies and defend the kingdom of the Prince of Rohan. The update will also include a new Instance Finder mechanic so that you can get into groups quicker without the wait for fuss. Using the Finder also provides extra rewards, so there’s a bonus reason to check it out.
