“Diablo III,” commonly referred to as “Diablo 3,” was developed by Blizzard Entertainment, and it was released on May 15, 2012 in most places and on June 7, 2012 in Russia. After a decade of anticipation buildup, “Diablo 3” was released and sold 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours.

In “Diablo 3,” a new hero has emerged to save the world of Sanctuary from Diablo, his brethren, Belial and Azmodan, and their minions. Players also enter the Heavens this time around to hunt Diablo after he becomes the Prime Evil.

For players who battled Diablo in the previous installments, Sanctuary hasn’t changed much. Familiar characters, like Deckard Cain, have aged some, mobs and dungeons are still tough, and the “secret” level has gotten sillier with killer unicorns and teddy bears instead of undead cows. “Diablo 3” has four “Acts,” four difficulty levels, five character classes and the ever-daring Hardcore Mode where characters don’t get second chances.

“Diablo 3” also has one of the most complex in-game trading systems: the Auction House. Players can buy and sell loot for in-game gold or for real currency. While the market has taken a while to stabilize, it has worked well thus far, and players can avoid using illicit third-party sites to make easy trades.
