A joint venture between Sony Online Entertainment and Warner Brothers, DC Universe Online is an MMORPG with some heavy-hitting entertainment names behind it. The game takes place in the DC realm, so players will get to interact with fully voiced characters such as Harley Quinn, The Question, and Catgirl along with some of DC’s most enduring heroes such as Superman and Batman.

As DC Universe Online features so many iconic heroes and villains, it’s bound to attract a new audience to MMORPG entertainment. DCUO offers a player-friendly leveling system that reduces grinding and makes grouping to fulfill quest objectives easy. Combat focuses on PVE objectives, but PVP is a strong element within the game as well.

Players choose to start in gleaming Metropolis or in gritty Gotham City. A mentor appropriate to the character’s heroism or villainy will get in touch via communicator to provide new quests and move the main story forward. Both heroes and villains will find plenty to do in their early levels. A walk down the street can provide the chance to stop a group of thugs from robbing a bank–or to help them out for a share of the loot.

DC Universe Online went live in January of 2011. It’s available for the PC or PS3 and requires a monthly fee to play.
